The
concert promises to be both entertaining and educational.
Besides
the opportunity to enjoy the performance, the audience can
get invaluable insights into each of the repertoire pieces.
The Trio members will provide brief commentary as
they highlight key themes in the music; selected movements
of the Beethoven and the Schubert Andante will be projected
on a screen so the audience can actually follow along
as the Trio plays.
The evening is free and open to the public.

MUNOZ

The
highlights of Sophia's ambitious and extensive repertoire
include Bach's "English Suite in A minor," Beethoven's
"Sonata Op.2 No.3," Shostakovich's Prelude &
Fugue No.24", Stravinsky's "Etude No.4," Chopin's
"Etude No.8 and Etude No.12, Revolutionary," Debussy's
"Etude for Eight Fingers," Liszt's "La Leggierezza
& Mazeppa," and Brahms' "Variations on a theme
of Paganini."
Fifteen
year old native Tulsan, Sophia Munoz, began studying piano
at age four. She had her orchestral debut with the Plano
Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Hector Guzman in
May of 2005, and has won first place in the Annual Starr
Competition's various levels several times, first place
in the OMTA, first place in Sarkey's ,
and second place in the Russicheschule people's
choice concert in Freiburg, Germany.
Sophia
is currently a student of Professor Jura Margulis of the University
of Arkansas. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned
teachers and artists such as Vitaly Margulis, Bryce Morrison,
Robert Weirich, Jose Feghali and Alan Chow. Sophia has performed
in Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and
Germany. Currently a sophomore in high school, she homeschools
and has a wide variety of interests including drama, reading,
swimming, writing and language; she is bilingual, speaking
both English and French, has studied Mandarin Chinese, and
is currently studying German and Spanish. She is also serving
as an intern at the Barthelmes Conservatory.
