The
Barthelmes Conservatory's Music School division provides the
finest in music education. It serves students who display the potential
to pursue music as a professional career.
The
Music School offers special learning opportunities for students
who demonstrate giftedness in music. Its programs are structured
and intensive. As the Music School grows, course offerings will
expand to include additional instruments.
Strong
Mission and a Bright Future Our
mission is to promote artistic and academic excellence and to prepare
musicians of highest quality.
The
Music School also aims to serve as a resource for the Tulsa arts
and music community.
Instructional
Approach
At
the heart of the Music School's program is bi-weekly instruction
consisting of both individual and group lessons.
Each student receives half-hour lessons on his or her instrument
twice weekly. In addition, all students attend bi-weekly hour long
classes in music theory. Students in the Music School develop overall
musicianship. Under the skilled and compassionate guidance of dedicated
teachers, they learn to strive for excellence.
Scholarships
All
students at the Music School receive full merit-based scholarships.
Auditions are required for scholarship
consideration. Auditions do not require prior instruction, however.
Instead, they are designed to assess musical aptitude and the basic
skills necessary for success in an intensive program.
Music
School Parents
Parents
play a major role in ensuring the success of students, and they
do so by encouraging egular attendance and by encouraging regular
practice and completion of assignments. Parental involvement is
vital to the success of students in the Music School .
We
encourage interaction between parents and instructors. Parents are
welcome to observe lessons and classes. In addition, parents and
family members are invited to attend all recitals and open concerts
and to parti cipate in all meetings and special events.
